The mission of Cosmic Light Media began with a mystery in a cardboard box.

Some time ago, I acquired a collection of rare Japanese Betamax and VHS tapes - forgotten recordings of Japanese television from decades past. I was holding a literal time capsule, ready to unlock a specific moment in history. I fired up my standard equipment, eager to see what was inside.

But the signal wouldn't hold.

The hardware I had at the time - standard consumer gear - couldn't handle the aging magnetic tape. The image rolled, the colors dropped, and some tapes refused to play at all. I watched, heartbroken, as these ghosts of the past flickered and vanished into static. I realized then that standard digitization wasn't enough. If I wanted to save this history, I needed to treat it with the professional respect it deserved.

That experience was the turning point for Cosmic Light Media.

I realized that if I felt this loss over tapes of strangers, how much more devastating would it be for families to lose the only footage of their parents, their weddings, or their childhoods?

I immediately pivoted my operations. I invested in professional-grade signal processing, time-base correctors, and broadcast-quality decks designed to capture signals that standard VCRs miss.
